Sick from smartphone, laptop and tablet?

We are online anytime and anywhere, both privately and professionally, and now even more so than usual in times of social distancing. We work, read, chat, play and keep in touch with family, friends and colleagues using technology. But can the constant use of smartphones , laptops or tablets endanger our physical and mental health? SpardaSurfSafe, an initiative of the Education and Social Foundation of Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg, answers the most important questions.
The advances in communications technology over the past 20 years have made our lives easier in many areas. It has never been easier to get in touch with one another, obtain information on almost any topic imaginable, or process large amounts of data.
The past two months in particular have shown the china gambling data advantages of modern technology, without which home office and home schooling would be almost impossible. Social distancing is also becoming at least a little more bearable thanks to video calls, as you can at least still see your loved ones. But it's not just the positive effects that are becoming apparent, but also the negative sides of being constantly present on the web.
“First of all, you have to differentiate between the psychological and physical effects of constant use of smartphones , tablets or laptops,” explains Götz Schartner from the association Sicherheit im Internet e. V., one of the co-organizers of SpardaSurfSafe.
"Effects on the body, such as tension, are usually easier to remedy or even prevent than those on the psyche. Social media and constant availability in particular are causing problems for many people. In addition, the pandemic has made the line between work and private life even more blurred than before, and many people are finding it increasingly difficult to simply switch off for once." The expert therefore believes it is all the more important to actively address the most common problems, both psychological and physical.
