Paloma Real's goal is to boost Mastercard's growth, with a strong focus on innovation. Her priorities include working on the progressive digitalization of the payment market towards a cashless society, promoting alliances with new players in the payment ecosystem and implementing new solutions that make daily transactions an easy, fast and secure experience.
A Telecommunications Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Paloma Real has nearly 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and payment industry. She began her career at Mastercard in 2012 and tunisia phone number data in the last three years, before being appointed General Manager in Spain in November 2017, she headed the Innovation and Business Development area of Mastercard Iberia.
Question: At what stage is the digitalisation process of the payment sector in Spain?
Answer: We are currently experiencing a true digital revolution in the financial sector with a rapid emergence of new technologies throughout the entire value chain and in numerous business segments, such as payment.
In this way, we have observed how technology and innovation are having a great impact on many aspects of people's daily lives; everyday actions such as making payments that have been completely transformed in recent years. So much so that just five years ago it would have seemed very strange to pay for your purchase in a store by holding a contactless card, smartphone or any other wearable device up to the dataphone, or authenticating that payment through a selfie. And yet, all these methods already exist: contactless payments are part of the daily transactions of many citizens, as well as biometric solutions, which will soon be available in Spain to increase the security of digital transactions.
