Principles of TRIZ methods

Post by maksudasm »

The problem that needs to be solved using the TRIZ method may not contain the right answer - there may be many possible options. But there is an approach that must be followed.

Before you start looking for a way to implement the task, you need to decide on the resources. The company should already have them, since the ideal solution uses only internal capabilities, as we discussed above.

Let's look at another example. A car owner database truck with containers is unable to pass under a bridge because of the great height of the vehicle. To accomplish the task, we use the resource of space. If we release some air from the tires of the car, it will be able to pass. It is necessary not only to find resources, but also to understand how to use them.

Principles of TRIZ methods

Rules for the application of TRIZ
Combination – the articulation of similar objects or actions, the placement of one object inside another. For example: a multi-tool performs the functions of many different tools, while being the same size as a folding knife.

Decomposition – when it is difficult to work with an object as a whole, it is more useful to break it down into full-fledged separate parts, or make it collapsible. For example, if you decompose a furniture wall into modules, this will make transportation convenient and give the opportunity to arrange the furnishings as desired.

Dynamism – when an object cannot be worked with or the process is hindered by an external situation, the object or conditions should be changed. For example: to make VKontakte visitors spend more time there, its creators came up with an algorithm that compiles a selection of news individually for each person.

Anticipation – to perform an action beforehand that cannot be performed later. For example: children constantly swallow Lego pieces. Because of this, the company adds barium sulfate to the plastic, which is easily visible on an X-ray.

Rules for the application of TRIZ-1

Mediation – when you can’t work with an object directly, you can ask for help from another. For example: the head of the city of Novocheboksarsk in 1994, before the elections, organized a lottery in which the numbers of the winning tickets were the same as those of his polling stations and the ordinal number on the list of candidates. Thanks to this, twice as many voters came as usual, and the costs of the event were three times less than in previous campaigns.

The "Opposite" Rule - when it is difficult to perform an action, try to do the opposite. For example, when a hole is formed in a vessel and the hold is already partially filled with water, it is necessary to launch it into the opposite part as well. The vessel will settle, but will not heel and will remain afloat.

Using harm for good – identify the possible benefit of an object’s undesirable quality. Eliminate it by combining it with others, or strengthen it enough to neutralize the destructive influence. For example: when a sequoia fell onto a road in a California park and stood across the highway, the local administration simply cut a tunnel in the tree, which later even became a landmark.
