Quickwins SEO: 6 SEO improvements to improve your web positioning

Post by tongfkymm44 »

URLs with traffic or authority that give a 4xx error
This action consists of locating the URLs of our project that are giving 4xx errors and then cross-referencing them with data from Google Search Console, Google Analytics and Ahrefs.

To perform this task, we will need:

ScreamingFrog, or failing that another crawler
Access to the project's Google Analytics and Google Search Console accounts
An Ahrefs, Moz or Majestic account
Before launching ScreamingFrog against our project to locate the URLs with errors, it is necessary to configure it so that it also extracts the data of visits, clicks, impressions and backlinks from them. You must do this in this section:

Once that is done, it will be enough to filter by those URLs that give a code 400 and study if these URLs are having visits, clicks, impressions or backlinks (authority).

Although there are several options, the most common solution for those with good metrics is to make a 301 redirect to a page with equivalent content. Generally, when applying this solution, it is also interesting to locate the internal linking that points to these pages with 4xx error in order to modify it and point directly to the valid URL.

Another possible option is to fix the 4xx code by retrieving the content so that the URLs become valid again.

Optimizing inefficient interlinking
Along the same lines as the previous point, we have another SEO improvement related to the inefficient internal linking of the project.

As a project grows and is worked on, it is normal for many internal links to be generated to pages that do not contribute, such as:

Pages with 4xx errors
Pages redirected with 3xx
Pages with canonical pointing to another
Pages blocked by meta robots or robots.txt
This fact means that:

Internally we are giving prominence (linkjuice) to pages that are not valid for the project.
We waste Google's resources, especially on multi-page projects where it doesn't have enough resources to crawl the entire web.
To locate these pages, simply run a ScreamingFrog against your project and, when it finishes, export the file with all the internal links of the website:

Once we have the file, we just need to filter through all the pages that do not international email database contribute (4xx errors, 3xx redirects, canonicalized pages, blocked pages, etc.) and find an optimal solution for them. In this case, there may be thousands of solutions, so we leave it up to you.

SERP Control + Structured Data
Improve your SEO!
This SEO improvement consists of locating which important keywords appear in structured data in the SERP and we are not taking advantage of.

We can do this task with several tools, but we will use Sistrix. This tool allows us to see which keywords we are ranking for and if there are any Google modules that can be accessed through structured data:

Now that you have the information, all you need to do is check if your pages that rank for those keywords have the appropriate structured markup to be able to appear and absorb that CTR.

SEO loves Paid
As many of you may already know, Google Analytics and Google Ads can be linked. Thanks to this, you will be able to see all the data from Google Ads campaigns in Google Analytics in the following section:

If you run paid campaigns in your project, this report can be a good ally. Thanks to it, you can find out which landing pages and keywords are getting good results in paid ads and which you are not getting the most out of in SEO.

Content Gap
Another SEO improvement that will allow you to improve your SEO positioning in the short term is to locate those contents that the competition is working on and you are not.

You can do this with several tools (Semrush, Sistrix, Ahrefs,…), just access these reports:

Sistrix:

Semrush:

Ahrefs:

When you access these reports, you will only need to enter your projects and the other domains you want to compare them against and you will get a series of comparisons that will help you find new keywords to attack.

Backlink Gap
Finally, the last SEO improvement we propose is very much in line with the previous point. Both Ahrefs and Semrush offer reports in which you can compare your backlink profile with that of your competitors. Thanks to this, you will be able to detect opportunities to find quality links to replicate.

These reports can be found at:

Ahrefs:

Semrush:

Well, with this last tip we close the post. We hope you liked it, if so, we encourage you to share it on social media and leave us a comment.
