What is IFTTT and how does it work?

Post by shammis606 »

IFTTT ( If This Then That ) is an online platform and Android app that automates processes from logins to playlist scheduling on Spotify. It is designed to save users time and, as its slogan suggests, “make the internet work for you.”

This is one of the easiest and most intuitive automation tools why choose our service to use. By using statements, i.e. simple, logically-formed statements, users can do things that would normally take several clicks.

Examples of automation with IFTTT:
Save Facebook photos you're tagged in to a Dropbox folder.
Write to your lost Android phone to increase the ringer volume.
Tweet everything you post on Instagram, incorporating the photos themselves.
Send all your iOS contacts to a Google Sheet.

It doesn't matter if you don't know anything about programming, you can simply download the Applets. On the other hand, IFTTT also has a community of users who contribute ideas and automation tools, ready to download and available to everyone.

Learn how IFTTT works

Using IFTTT
IFTTT works just like any other app or web service. You simply have to sign up by entering your email address and a password. Afterwards, you will have access to hundreds of Applets or “recipes” so you can choose the ones that suit you best.

Select Applets
As in the examples mentioned above, there are many functions you can perform with this tool. In the “discover” button you can find interesting suggestions. In this sense, you can also perform a search by typing words related to the application, service or function you want to automate.

Configure your recipes
Once you have found the desired Applet, you can proceed to setup. The first thing you need to do is “connect” your apps. That is, you need to give IFTTT permission to make changes to your social network (for example) or post on your behalf if applicable. Once you have configured everything the Applet asks for, the automated feature will be active until you delete or cancel it.
