It is well known that Google is very demanding regarding the usability of a page. At this point, one of the main factors is the loading time of our website in Wordpress . We must always keep in mind that every website in Wordpress that we have in production must go through an optimization process .
Optimizing Wordpress will directly impact on a decrease in the loading time of our website and we will almost certainly see how the results in Google SERPs will benefit. In fact, we have seen growth of more than 90 positions in some keywords in some of our clients! In short, it is worth a try.
We offer you some tips to optimize and improve SEO that are carried out within Wordpress, others that are carried out outside of it, and tools that offer metrics to evaluate whether we are on the right track.
Web performance metrics tools
Before we start touching anything, it would be good to review a before and after (also a during…) to know how our website responds currently and how it improves through these changes. We offer you some pages that may be helpful:

GTmetrix
We want to highlight this tool for its simplicity. On the home page, we enter our URL and GTmetrix analyses the website's response time and evaluates different aspects of performance. Low scores may be susceptible to improvement and that should be one of our starting points. What advantage does GTmetrix offer? It will allow us to optimize our website with advice on each point where we have a low score. Some points of improvement require using our FTP manager.

Webpagetest
Webpagetest is one of our favorite tools. Its analysis is quite technical and tells us the loading times of each element of the website, evaluates the loading time of the website, whether the images are well optimized, whether the content is delivered compressed, etc. It is a very complete tool, although it requires some technical knowledge to be able to correctly interpret all the results.

Google PageSpeed Insights

There are many tools available. Do you know any more?
Improve website loading in Wordpress without plugins
There are many improvements that reduce web loading times , but not all of them can be beneficial for us. We show you some improvements that, in most cases, are beneficial.
Where is your website hosted?
The main factor for successful optimization in 90% of cases is poor performance from the provider of our website. Which provider are you hosting with? What plan are you using and what features does it have? Is it suitable and specialized for your CMS? These should be the questions you should ask yourself. If you have any doubts about the answer, the best thing you can do is consult your provider.
At PGR we have tested many providers and, without a doubt, we have chosen one that has particularly caught our attention: RaiolaNetworks . The performance it has offered us on our clients' websites is very satisfactory and we have managed to reduce loading times from 7-8s to 3s without needing to purchase a CDN.
Have you compressed your images?
Images on a website should be treated very specially. It is not enough to upload an image edited with Paint to a website. At the very least, it should be optimized with a tool like Photoshop or Irfanview (this last tool is free).
