The concept of a sales funnel
A sales funnel is a sequence of actions that a buyer takes, starting with getting to know a product and ending with its purchase.

A funnel can be used to solve a variety of problems, from direct sales to increasing customer loyalty. Understanding why companies lose customers and finding ways to retain them requires this tool.

There are 2 types of sales funnels:

high-level;

detailed.

The top level shows the main stages: transition to the site — purchase of the product. Using this funnel, you can assess the overall picture of sales efficiency: how many potential buyers there were in total and how many of them became real. However, information on these two stages alone is not enough for a detailed analysis of consumer behavior.

A detailed funnel divides the main stages into smaller steps and takes into account all the actions that a potential buyer has taken. Sometimes after visiting a website, a person signs up for a newsletter, reads an article on a blog, downloads a free checklist, and only then leaves a request.

By analyzing each step, you can figure out at what stage most people leave and adjust the funnel. For example, if your site traffic is high but your subscription conversion remains low, you probably need to make the form more visible or change the wording of the call to action.
