Starting tonight (Tuesday), Storm 'Alphis' will enter our areas, which, according to forecasts, will be accompanied by strong winds, low temperatures, rain and snow in the Golan Heights and the Galilee Mountains.

In light of this, today the Northern District remove background image Commander, Capt. Nizar Fares, held a situation assessment for all commanders in the district, at the end of which he instructed them to prepare for the storm:
– The district control center, Call Center 102, will be reinforced
– The manpower at the stations will be increased with additional firefighting teams
– Winter equipment arrangements and an off-road vehicle
inspection will be made – Situation assessments will be held with the emergency bodies and local authorities
– Additional launch points will be opened in Safed, Majdal Shams and Beit Jan

Please note: Every winter, approximately 100 fires break out as a result of the use of unsafe heating devices, such as coil heaters and heat diffusers that were next to the bed or other flammable materials.

The Israel Fire and Rescue Service asks the public to adhere to safety guidelines in preparation for the stormy weather:
Avoid heating your home with spiral stoves, which cause deadly fires every winter. Safe heating devices such as air conditioners or radiators should be used, not radiant heaters.
Avoid entering underground levels, elevators, and parking lots that may be flooded.
Drivers should significantly slow down and adapt to road conditions, including fog and strong side winds that may shake the vehicle.
Install a low-cost, easy-to-install smoke detector that will alert you to a fire at its beginning and save lives!
