How do you get discovered on Twitter?

Are there any tips for all those other writers who would like to be discovered via Twitter? “If you want to do something with your writing, you would do well to start following the right people. Me, for example,” laughs Jelte Nieuwenhuis. “Twitter is a way to quickly bring your work to the attention. Anyone who writes puts it in their bio with a link to a blog. But creating a blog and then spamming editors is not necessarily the way to have a book in the shops within a few months. It has to be real, come across as authentic. I am looking for a certain individuality. That sounds vague, but that is how it goes. Of course, you have to be able to write. And what you write has to fit in with our fund. Not all the india phone number list lines I draw eventually become a book, that only happens to 10% in the end.”
Maartje adds: “I think that the same thing applies to being discovered via Twitter as applies to life: show something of yourself and dare to take risks. I probably stand out more because I’m not a carbon copy of other Twitter users and I’m also not very careful with dirty words or weird thoughts. I think that helps. Secondly: I really believe that it makes sense to work hard for something. So if you have ambitions: write! Because getting discovered is one thing, in the end there has to be a good story. If you really work hard for it, it should be within reach even without intangible things like chance and karma. I guess.”

Publishing advisor Bas Vermond says: “It’s quite striking: no matter how modern and digital this era is, everyone still wants to have a real book in the bookstore. Many writers are now showing themselves on social media. The question is: how do you pick out the gems? Twitter still has to prove itself as a place of discovery in the Netherlands. I’m curious!”
