The Green Week in Berlin starts today, Friday, and this year the focus is on the aspects of resource conservation and sustainability . Digital technologies can make an enormous contribution in this regard - also in future forms of meat consumption: around one in eight Germans (13 percent) say they can imagine eating meat from a 3D printer in the future.
This process uses a food printer to produce a piece rcs database of meat from cattle cells, for example - but this method is not yet suitable for the mass market. However, 21 percent are not interested in meat from a 3D printer, and 62 percent categorically rule out trying meat from a 3D printer. This is the result of a representative survey commissioned by the digital association Bitkom among 1,003 German citizens aged 16 and over.
"Many people want to reduce their meat consumption due to increased environmental and animal welfare awareness, but do not want to forego the taste. Meat from a 3D printer may offer a middle ground in the future," says Andreas Schweikert, Bitkom expert for agriculture. "The survey shows that at least part of the population is open to this."
