The first tests with sales robots in retail are already underway - and more than one in three Internet users in Germany believe that digital assistants in stores have a great future. This was the result of a representative survey commissioned by the digital association Bitkom among 1,086 Internet users aged 14 and over.
36 percent of Internet users expect that there business owner database will be digital sales assistants and consultants in brick-and-mortar stores in 2030. In the 14- to 29-year-old age group, four out of ten respondents (40 percent) say this. In addition, one in three Internet users (33 percent) believe that sales robots will guide customers through the store in 2030.
"Sales robots are already being tested as a supplement to human employees in stores. The digital assistants are intended to relieve the sales staff and currently mainly take on a friendly greeting and simple service requests," says Bitkom retail expert Julia Miosga. "In addition, the robots simply provide a special shopping experience for many customers in the store."
