The history of the intranet is fairly well known. Many organizations struggle with the legacies of that history. They are looking for ways to realize modern and future-proof intranets. But what is the future of the intranet? Shouldn't we think about this question much more freely? For example, are we ultimately going to put our intranet on our noses?
There is a lot of talk about 'social media within companies', or 'social intranet' for short: an intranet that does not just australia telegram data consist of news, content, a who's who guide and the weekly menu of the restaurant. A 'social intranet' also facilitates dialogue, collaboration and knowledge sharing. And that is necessary, because an 'old' intranet offers too little support to many employees in their daily work. It is not without reason that the (often unauthorized) use of collaboration tools such as Yammer and Dropbox has increased enormously.
From intranet to digital workplace
The intranet is thus moving towards the ' digital workplace '. Or, in Dutch, the digital workplace: a condition for existence for the modern knowledge worker. The digital workplace goes significantly further in its definition than a 'social intranet'. The digital workplace must be the place where you live as a knowledge worker and where you can do all your work. And therefore the place that supports the primary processes of the organization (such as renting out homes at a real estate agency). Part of these processes are dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaboration.
