An old gas tank is used as a water tank. The tank must be installed above the manifold so that natural circulation works. If you open the shut-off valves, hot water will flow from the tank on the cold side of the electric tank. Cold water flows into the manifold from the old drain of the gas tank, hot water from the manifold goes out to the old outlet valve. The outlet valve is installed in the tank and the manifold. The temperature sensor is also installed on the tank and on the solar panel.
The photo shows a tank for collecting hot water from the collector. The solar panel is behind the wall, at the outlet of two pipes.

Temperature measurements
At a temperature of about 60 degrees, water enters the reservoir. The tank perfectly maintains the temperature all night, the electric heater was not turned on. Water from the collector is used for washing, showering and washing dishes. The air temperature outside was no higher than 30 degrees (May 2010). Performance tests in detail in the next article.
The author of the prototype noted after a year of using the panel that no problems arose.
