German economy sees opportunities primarily in digitalization
But: Only one in four companies invests in digital business models
Berg: “Corona crisis is a wake-up call to massively advance digitalization”
Although companies in Germany have made progress in digitization over the past twelve months, they are rather cautious in assessing their own progress. When asked about the status of digitization in their own company, managing directors and board members only gave the average grade “satisfactory.”
Medium-sized companies with 100 to 499 employees only give themselves a "sufficient" philippines gambling data rating. At the same time, only 22 percent see the German economy in the top group in terms of digitization compared to 26 percent a year ago. No one still considers Germany to be the world leader in terms of digitization .
At the same time, the proportion of those who place Germany in the middle (from 47 to 51 percent) or among the laggards (from 18 to 21 percent) is growing. Four percent still believe that the German economy is lagging behind digitally. This is the result of a representative survey of 603 companies from all sectors commissioned by the digital association Bitkom, which was presented today.
"The Corona crisis has shown us very clearly the importance of digital technologies for business, administration and society. The crisis is a wake-up call to massively advance digitalization," said Bitkom President Achim Berg. "In the past, we took too much time with digitalization. The motto of 'business as usual' no longer applies. Now it's time to build digital infrastructure, comprehensively digitize business processes and develop new, digital business models."
