Solidarity 2.0

Post by sohanuzzaman56 »

We are looking ahead to the possible content of the next Cava and Twitts on November 26th , to comment on how the 2.0 philosophy can have a place, impact and meet charitable objectives through online fundraising.

An article from Cnet News analyzes several American services that provide different ways to raise money for a cause.

One of them is ChipIn , an online service that allows groups band data user list of people to collect money to make purchases or send to a beneficiary. Donations can be made via debit or credit card or also via PayPal . ChipIn does not charge any fees for its service, but it is necessary to be registered to be able to organize events , although it is not necessary to be registered to participate in them.

Chipin has developed a widget that can be inserted into Blogger, WordPress, MySpace, Netvibes and Facebook templates, among others, and thus inform and involve our contacts about the event we have created and the cause we are committed to. The conditions of use should be carefully reviewed, but above all I believe that the reliability and trustworthiness of the organizer of the charity event should be unquestionable, so that the money is given to whom it was intended from the beginning.

Another fundraising idea is Donors Choose (for US citizens only), which allows users to connect with a school for children and donate whatever money they can or want to help the school in its educational efforts. DonorsChoose asks teachers or schools to create a charity appeal with a target amount of money to be donated to purchase books, furniture, research materials or any other cause the school decides on.

Micropayments (from $1) are accepted , and users can see the achievements and scope of their donations or the people who are benefiting from their money, as well as photos showing the items purchased. At the end of the collection, thank you letters from the teacher (and handwritten letters from the students if the donation is over $100), and details of the project's costs and financing are sent to the donors. Payments are made through Donors Choose's proprietary system .

What do you think of these proposals? I personally believe that they are innovative and could provide transparency and effective segmentation of donations. Are there NGOs that carry out this type of work in Spain?
