The reasons are various. I will start with the most prosaic: technical barrier. Business owners do not know how to start, how to set up, how to install and how to build a good blog and that is why they abandon this idea right from the start. And yet it is not that difficult. There are many free CMS systems available on the Internet, with Wordpress at the forefront. Using them, you can publish a blog on the web in an easy, pleasant (and uncomplicated!) way. However, running a blog does not end only with installation. A company blog, unlike a company website, requires constant content updates. You have to post interesting articles, guides that could interest and engage potential Readers/Customers.
And such a blog update requires knowledge, time and sometimes the involvement of additional employees who would come up with topics and edit new texts. And here we come to the last obstacle: lack of an idea for a blog. In other words, the company knows that it would be good to set up a blog, but it does not really have an idea of what to include on such a blog.
These three reasons usually effectively discourage small companies from setting up blogs.
It also happens very often that companies eventually set up and start database email architetti editing a blog, but they do it poorly, which does not have a positive impact on the brand and company image. I wrote about the most common mistakes made when running a company blog in another article.
Meanwhile, in 2019, blogging is becoming a necessity. Let's look at the facts:
The percentage of companies that decide to set up and maintain a corporate blog increases every year .
B2B companies that blog receive more leads than those that don't.
A blog increases the visibility of the site in search engines, and organic search attracts high-quality leads (potential customers).
A company blog has a better long-term return on investment (ROI) than traditional marketing efforts.
There is nothing groundbreaking here, of course. Everything leads us to a fairly obvious conclusion. More posts means more links indexed in the search engine, greater visibility and more traffic. And this is constant, regardless of the type of blog and the topic we are dealing with. Depending on the industry, you have to wait shorter or longer for the effects.
How many of these texts per month?
As you can see, the answer to the question about the frequency of adding texts to the website is not so clear-cut. Everything is relative, it depends on the industry, the subject, or the products or services offered. Some people believe that we should stop worrying about the amount of content and rather take care of what the content contains. We are going for quality, not quantity. This is true. Quality should always come first. A large number of publications with poor value for the Internet user will not give any effect. On the other hand, adding one comprehensive and expert article once every three months also defeats the purpose.
And what if we have no idea what number of posts will give us the desired effect? Below is a cheat sheet.
1. Schedule a pool of articles for a specific time period.
It’s a good idea to set a general number of posts planned for a relatively long period, such as the next 12 months. Set a pool of, for example, 140 articles and plan the frequency of publication. The frequency of publication can change depending on your needs.
2. Adjust the number of publications to your needs and goals.
If you are starting a blog, it is worth increasing the number of posts to 16-20 per month for the first few months (3-6) . When the traffic from your site reaches a level where older posts start to be a serious source of traffic, you can reduce the number of posts, but everything in moderation. I would generally not recommend going below 8 posts per month. Of course, it is not always necessary and it does not always make sense. And sometimes you run out of topics... Then the absolute minimum is one post per week... or hiring someone to run the company blog.
