The country's most recognized brands are not making the most of their online budgets
Doppler, the first company in Argentina dedicated 100% to Email Marketing, presented its “1st Research on the use of email marketing in the top 100 brands in Argentina”.
For the purposes of this study, which focused on 100 of the most important companies in the country, the use, optimization and tracking of brand campaigns were analyzed. The results show that the multi-million dollar investments in the Internet are not accompanied by appropriate email marketing strategies to convert the investment into more prospects and higher income. The study reflects the reasons for the low performance and provides possible solutions.
The research is the first of its kind to be carried out in the country and provides a detailed map of the strong disconnect between the investment that companies make in their websites and the scarce or non-existent strategies they apply to take advantage of email marketing tools, which offer the best Return on Investment (ROI).
To prove this, the websites of the 100 most recognized brands in Argentina were analyzed and the conclusions are conclusive:
58% of companies present some method of data collection.
Of these companies, only 37% of them report any subsequent email sending activity.
Of all the companies that have some method of data collection, only 5% have a Double Opt-in Form, which allows for generating databases more effectively because the user must confirm the subscription via email.
Of the websites that collect data, only 22 of them send promotions by email or newsletters.
Of the sites analyzed, only 13 have the form visible throughout the site.
Only 8 companies that send emails track their campaigns.

“More and more people are using the Internet to search for products or services. We must understand that email is a necessary tool to facilitate the consumer’s purchasing decision process,” said Jonathan Baldovino, General Manager of Doppler. “Advertising and marketing professionals, for the most part, do not have sufficient knowledge to generate concrete results on the Internet, which is understandable considering that until very recently they were trained for a 100% offline world.”
The study analyzed the behavior of the 100 websites between January and November 2008 and the results were processed during March 2009.
